Come join us for Vinland Raids VI! Anyone who has attended
will be wondering how Vinland Raids could get any better? This
year we are fortunate to be hosting the King's and Queen's
Rattan Champions! W
This is one event you do not want to miss.
This excellent site has private showers, and bathrooms.
It boasts ample SHADED camping space for up to 400+, and a large
bardic area, with twin fire pits.
There are separate areas for Archery, Thrown Weapons, Fencing,
Youth Combat, Youth Archery, and of
course Heavy Weapons.
We will hold a night shoot at 9:00 on Friday, a beginners
archery class and royal rounds on Saturday morning. Then on
Saturday afternoon the fun begins with multiple stations
including moving targets and moving archers all based on the
works of Hieronymus Bosch.
In addition to the Tournament there will be a woods battle.
Friday eve we will begin the festivities, as always, with a
Viking Torchlight Tournament :
Soft, the early summer breeze carries the light floral scents of
the thickening forest. The cool air dances in eddy across the
floor of the flat octagonal platform. High, over head, the
swaying oils lamps send tendrils of smoke up into the high flung
rafters and out the smoke hole. About the outer platform
torches dance and glint light off the men of iron that make
ready to enter the arena. About them on the dewy grass lay the
weapons of choice:
Round bucklers that thwart
Slashing spears with heavy blade and sharp spikes that maim
Axes that crush
And swords that cut and thrust
Only these are allowed by time honored tradition. But those
that stand there about the outer platform know that once inside
there is glory to won, wordfame to gain, and a rejoining with
all that once existed and made them men.
Have you been here? Have you lived the moments that only
torchlight, smoke and shadow can etch into memory?
If not be sure to join us on Friday evening at the Honning Cam
for the Viking Torchlight Tourney. It runs for one hour and
begins at 10 PM to give folks time to get in eat and set camp
before enjoying the company of like minded individuals, with
sticks, to vie for the prize!
There will be a delicious Viking Feast prepared by Lady Solskinn
and Lady Reddy. No one leaves hungry from this gastronomic
extravaganza.
For those with a more woodsman's bent there will be contests in
thrown weapons.
There is ample shaded merchant space available with close by
camping, and a nearby parking lot for vendor vehicles. All
vendors interested please contact the Autocrat. Private shaded
camping areas are available and each has a fire pit, and will
fit several large pavilions with ease. There are also a limited
number of three-walled cabins available on a first come, first
serve basis at no extra charge. Each open front cabin sleeps
eight. Cabins can be reserved by sending eight reservations
together or sending a list of the names of eight pre-reserved
campers. Unreserved bunk space will be given out.
This is a boy scout camp. Please, if you smoke police your
cigarette butts. The site is dry. Period containers only, no
modern bottles. If you feel must drink alcohol despite the
rules all empties must leave with you.
(This will be enforced.)
The infamous Blowhole Inn will be open. As always prices are
reasonable and portions ample!
